Who is this course for?

It's designed for drummers who are looking to move beyond beginner skills into the world of intermediate and advanced concepts - especially odd-timed patterns such as polyrhythms, double kick, and syncopation.

It's not for people looking for a quick fix. This is a six-month deep dive designed to be studied consistently, with four focused practice sessions per week. The commitment is real - and so are the results.

How long does this program take?

The Masterclass runs over six months, with 23 lessons delivered weekly. Three weeks are built in as intentional rest weeks, giving you time to consolidate what you've worked on before moving forward.

The goal isn't to race through every exercise - it's to identify the lessons most relevant to your current level and sit with those exercises across multiple focused practice sessions. You'll keep lifetime access to all of the material, so you can revisit the more challenging exercises as your skills continue to develop.

I recommend saving a practice list on the site for easy access to your most important Masterclass exercises between sessions.

What drum setup do I need to get the most out of the Masterclass?

An acoustic or electric drum kit at home, or very close by, plus a way to record yourself. A phone is perfect for this (you don't need an elaborate studio setup - although that is nice to have!)

If this isn't your current situation, the Masterclass probably isn't the right fit for you at the moment.

Will Jay help me with accountability?

Absolutely. Accountability is built into the Masterclass in two ways.

First, the community. The drummers who go through this program together are genuinely encouraging and supportive of each other - it's one of the things I'm most proud of about how this has developed. Having people around you who are working through the same challenges makes a real difference to staying consistent.

Second, me. If I haven't heard from you in a while, I'll be in your inbox. You also have the option to schedule 1-on-1 check-ins with me at no additional cost if you need direct support or feedback on your playing.

What should I expect to achieve in the first month?

A lot. By the end of month one, you'll be in a solid practice routine - possibly for the first time. You'll know exactly what you're working on and what's coming next, which removes the frustration of aimless practice entirely.

You'll have worked through new challenges that push your drumming further than it's gone before - and you'll be playing ideas that previously felt out of reach.

From there, you'll have a whole new understanding of the drums as an instrument, with new ways to navigate fills and grooves and all the resources you need to keep expanding your skillset.

I don't want to do challenges or assignments, or calls with Jay - can I still do the Masterclass?

You can - but I'd encourage you to keep an open mind on this one.

The students who get the most out of the Masterclass are the ones who lean into the process fully - including the occasional check-in and the challenges that come with each lesson. That's not because I'm going to force you into anything, but because the breakthroughs tend to happen when you push past the comfortable and familiar.

If you're a happy introvert and prefer to work alone, that's absolutely fine - and you'll still make real progress. But if you find yourself stuck at any point, a quick call with me is often all it takes to get things moving again. That option is always there, and I'd encourage you to use it.

The students who go all in - and I mean really commit to the process - are the ones who finish the Masterclass and can't stop talking about it. That's what I want for you.

I'm worried that I'll start and not finish...

This is one of the most common concerns I hear - and it's a valid one. Starting something new always comes with that nagging voice asking "what if I don't see it through?"

The honest answer is that the structure of the Masterclass makes it easier to stay on track than most things you've tried before. You always know exactly what you're working on and what's coming next - and that clarity alone removes a lot of the friction that causes people to fall off.

Once you start witnessing real changes in your playing, you'll want to keep showing up. And if you ever feel like you're slipping, drop me a line. That's what I'm here for.

I'm away from home a lot - is it worth me doing the Masterclass?

If you travel occasionally but have consistent access to your kit at home, you'll be fine. The program is designed around regular practice sessions, so as long as you can get to your kit three to four times a week on most weeks, you're in a good position.

If you're away from home more often than not, or about to enter a particularly demanding season of work or travel, it's worth having a conversation with me before you apply. I'd rather we're realistic about your situation upfront than have you commit to something that doesn't fit your life right now.

What's the value of the Masterclass compared to other options?

Consider the alternatives:

In-person lessons ($100+/hour): Most tutors charge by the hour but don't specialise in the specific progressive drumming concepts we cover here. At four sessions per month, you're looking at $400+ every month - with no guarantee of structured progression or measurable results.

Generic online schools ($30+/month): The content is broad and the structure is often lacking. Memberships quietly drain your bank account long after you've stopped logging in.

The Progressive Drumming Masterclass is a structured, six-month deep dive with direct access to me throughout. The price reflects the depth of the program and when you apply, we'll have a conversation to make sure it's the right fit - and I'll walk you through everything from there.

Is this going to be difficult?

At times, yes - but that's the point. I'll be presenting you with ideas that are completely new, and some of them will feel uncomfortable at first. That's where the growth happens.

What I won't do is drop you in the deep end without a float. Everything is introduced step by step, and you'll always have a clear focus for each practice session. The challenge is manageable - and with my support and the community around you, you'll push through it.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes - I offer a full money-back guarantee. If you complete the Masterclass in its entirety and can honestly say you didn't learn a single new thing or make any measurable improvement to your drumming, I'll refund you in full.

So far, no one has ever asked for a refund - and I'm confident that won't change. But I stand behind this program completely, and I want you to feel safe making this investment.

The only condition is that you do the work. It wouldn't be fair to claim the program didn't work without fully committing to it.

What My Students are Saying

This course transformed my drumming

I'd been stuck in a rut with my drumming for well over a year, until I discovered Jay's Masterclass. I can't sing its praises highly enough. You have to experience this for yourself.

It's the transformation my drumming needed.

Stuart - Drum Student

The best drumming course I've ever taken

The Masterclass took my drumming fundamentals and helped me develop them, massively!

What I love the most is that I don't have to think about what to practice – it's super obvious which exercise to work on next. I just hop on the drums and start practicing.

For the first time in a long time, I’m seeing and feeling progress. I keep coming back to practice, even on the most tiring days - and this is my biggest win - finally staying consistent with practice.

Gosia - Drum Student

There's nothing else like this online!

I just have to say - no one else is teaching this stuff!

I can't believe it took so long for someone to finally explain these things in such an easy-to-follow way.

For odd-timed drumming, there's simply no better resource than Jay's Masterclass

Mike - Drum Student

I finally understand polyrhythms!

I'd been trying to understand how to apply polyrhythms to my drumming, but nothing was landing until I started working through Jay's Masterclass.

The Polyrhythm lessons and the Syncopation sections especially, were game-changers for me.

Matt - Drum Student

Highly recommended for technical drumming

With all the information floating around the internet, things can become cloudy really fast. I needed help with a solid practice regimen to reach the next level.

As soon as I saw Jay’s Masterclass and spoke to Jay, I knew this was for me.

My goals and practice sessions are finally clear thanks to precise, realistic lessons.

Travis - Drum Student

Instant improvements to my playing

This is the first time I've experienced noticeable overnight improvements in my drumming.

Jay's lessons have taught me so much, and this Masterclass especially has been a game-changer for me.

The curtain has been pulled back on so many pro-drumming tips - I feel like I'm behind-the-scenes with one of my heroes!

Audrey - Drum Student

I’m Jay Postones, drummer for TesseracT. Over the past two decades, I’ve toured the world and performed to sold-out crowds, all while developing my own signature brand of technical progressive drumming.

Alongside my career as a performer, I’ve become deeply energized by sharing the ideas, exercises, and practice methods that have helped me break through the walls of odd time signatures, polyrhythms, and technically challenging grooves.

My goal as a teacher is to take the complexity of progressive drumming and make it practical, musical, and accessible for my students - and that's what the Progressive Drumming Masterclass is designed specifically to do.

I'm proud to be sponsored by:

Who this course IS for

  • Drummers who are ready to push beyond their comfort zone - You’re tired of playing the same familiar grooves and are ready to dive into the deep end of odd timing and complex technical concepts.

  • Players committed to regular practice - Even if it’s just 30-40 minutes, 3–4 times per week, consistency is the only way to see measurable results.

  • Those craving structure and clarity - You’re done with aimlessly jamming or practicing without a clear plan; you want a proven system that delivers a clear, weekly path forward.

  • Drummers hungry for creative independence - You don't just want to copy my patterns; you want to understand the "why" so you can use these concepts to develop your own signature sound.

  • Anyone serious about leveling up - Whether your goal is the stage, the studio, or personal mastery, you know that now is the time to invest in your craft.

Who this course ISN'T for

  • Drummers looking for a quick fix - If you’re chasing overnight results without putting in the time behind the kit, this isn't the right fit.

  • Players unwilling to step outside of 4/4 - If you want to stick strictly to the basics and have no desire to challenge your rhythmic brain, you won't enjoy this process.

  • People who give up when it feels uncomfortable - Growth happens when you push past the "mental fog" of a new pattern; this course will ask you to sit with that discomfort until you break through.

  • Those who want to be "shown everything" without experimenting – Creativity and exploration are at the heart of what I do; to get the most from this, you must be willing to experiment on your own too.

  • Drummers who don’t value consistency - If you can’t commit to regular, focused sessions, the breakthroughs won’t happen, and you’ll find yourself back at square one.

If you’re still reading, you’re ready.

If you've read through everything and it's resonating with you, I'd love to hear from you.

By joining the Progressive Drumming Masterclass, you're not just getting a set of lesson videos. You're getting a structured path forward, direct access to me throughout, and a community of drummers all working toward the same goals.

When you enroll, you get access to:

  • The Masterclass Curriculum: A six-month guided system where you'll develop your practice routines, technical knowledge, and overall drumming abilities - specifically within the world of progressive and odd-timed drumming.

  • Weekly Accountability: Clear goals and challenges designed to keep you progressing every week.

  • Direct Access: 1-on-1 check-ins if you ever fall off-track to make sure you stay in motion.
